2017

Combined Breakfast with the Vintage Car Club of Queensland.    The prospect of stinking hot weather kept most folk at home, but in truth the early start, some shade and a light breeze made breakfast at Suttons Beach very pleasant.  What a delight it was to see two barn finds - a 1911 Brush and an early '20s Stoewer.

P PARTY.   This event demonstrates the depths to which our members sink when there's nothing doing in the rally department.  Top marks to the Lacerated Pirate and to Pierre the Frog.

NEURUM CREEK BUSH RETREAT, May 2017.  On the road again, this time based at Neurum Creek Bush Retreat, not too far from Kilkoy.   Runs were perhaps a little shorter than has been usual and this was apparently well received.

MARY POPPINS RALLY, Maryborough, Queensland, June-July 2017.  A wonderful excuse for adopting period dress, as the Poppins yarn is set in c.1910.  We posed, paraded and also did some driving.  There were visitors from NSW, Tasmania and NZ for what was probably the best-attended club event in many years.  Images from Rhonda Guthrie, Greg Hill and Peter Ransom.

BRUSH NATIONAL RALLY, Dalby, Queensland - July 2017.  These Brush folk don't mind a gathering and a decent drive.    The relative flatness of the Darling Downs country around Dalby makes for pleasant cruising in a single cylinder automobile.   Thanks to Greg Hill for the pictures.

BRIBIE ISLAND BRIDGE TO BRIDGE - August 2017.  That Bribie is an island is rather obvious but it's little known that Toorbul, the native habitat of the AC Sociable, is also an island.  So for our rallyistes this was a weekend spent mostly just off the mainland.  You wouldn't pick Albert, our excellent organiser and breakfast chef, as a sailor.

2017 NATIONAL VETERAN VEHICLE RALLY - September 2017.  Clare in South Australia is always worth a visit - picturesque and easily accessible, complete with wineries, history and a general good vibe.  So it's no surprise that the Clare Valley was chosen for this event.   Images courtesy of Rhonda Guthrie.
